City chooses CPA on third try (Gloucester Daily Times)

Gloucester became the 134th community in Massachusetts to adopt the Community Preservation Act last night, as voters agreed overwhelmingly to accept a 1 percent property tax surcharge to fund the program.

Housing sales and prices drop, but less than state average (Boston Globe)

Home sales in Essex County declined 12.8 percent for the first nine months of this year, and the median price fell 9.1 percent to $344,000, - doing slightly better than the rest of Massachusetts - compared with January to Septemberof 2007, according to data published last week by The Warren Group of Boston.
